+ At the first sign of resistance, some parents refuse to press their children to attend or participate in worship or other church activities. Their response usually goes something like this: “if I force them to go, they resent religion and turn their back on faith…I’ll respect their resistance now and they will not turn away.” That is messed-up thinking on so many levels. It puts the child, who is by nature “foolish” (see Prov.22:15) in charge of their own spiritual training. It places the child as the defining spiritual center of the home, instead of the parent. (see Eph. 6:1-4). And according to this new survey, the assumption on which the attitude is based is just plain wrong.
